Most people consider Mackinac Island a paradise that harkens back to a genteel bygone era. But for Byrony Long, paradise turns into a nightmare when her half-sister Jessica is found dead near Mackinac's Grand Hotel.
Convinced Jessica was murdered, Byrony hires private investigator Tate Madison to help her find the truth. But the more secrets they uncover, the higher the danger mounts around them. With the killer poised to strike again, will Byrony or Tate be the next victim?

I received a notice from the author that the book was available, immediately took a look at the product page and was drawn by the cover and the title.I am a writer of historical fiction, and I rarely read romance novels, but I did read High Seas Deception and was pleasantly surprised. Having just finished touching up my own fourth novel, I downloaded "Dead Girl in a Green Dress" looking for a diversion, and I read it in a single sitting. There was just the right balance between mystery and romance to keep me interested. The attacks on Byrony are a bit contrived, but less so because of the off season resort setting on one of the Great Lakes. The reluctance of cops to stir things up also makes sense because of the setting. In this genre, the book is worthy of a five, because it does exactly what a romance novel is supposed to do--it is good escapist romance with sex that steams but does not overboil. It left me feeling satisfied and yes, entertained. Now I can get back to work researching my next tome and hope that by the time I am finished, "Aunt Cindy" McCary will have a couple of similar good book waiting to help me with my winddown. And yes, the title and cover do fit the plot. No twenty-year old girl in this century would go to a tryst at a beach resort in an Oscar de la Renta. Cut-25 or Young, Fabulous and Broke, yes, but not in a de la Renta. And those little touches really make a difference to the credibility of a writer.Product details

Dead Girl in a Green Dress edition by Loucinda McGary Romance eBooks Reviews
Suspenseful and well-written, the story kept me interested from cover to cover. I recommend it highly!--author Donna Del Oro
Dead Girl in a Green Dress was hard to put down. Lots of surprises keep readers wondering what will happen next. Lucinda McGary rocks.
Worth reading for the setting alone, this book is suspenseful, romantic, and a pleasure to read on a summer's afternoon or in winter by the fire. Enjoy!
The beginning was kind of promising but then the mystery kind of became a background for the passionate affair between the sister and the pi. No surprise there, the usual ups and downs until boy gets girl. No surprise about the identity of the killer either, all in all a bit boring.
After reading all the reviews, I really expected something special. Unfortunately, this one wasn't. I didn't care for either of the main characters, nor the writing style. Our 'heroine' was too brash for me and I couldn't work up any sympathy for her. Our P.I. was too unprofessional right from the start. I found him very off-putting. The mystery was rather 'seen one, seen them all'. I didn't see all the twists and turns others did. It was a very easy read, though.
If you like very uncomplicated mysteries and very easy, fast reading, this book is right for you. It just wasn't a good book, in my opinion and I wouldn't buy another book from this author.
McGary is a master (mistress?) of setting, and in this book, she immerses the reader in the old-world elegance and natural beauty of Mackinac Island off Michigan's Upper Peninsula. There were twists and turns I didn't see coming, an alpha hero who needed saving, and a heroine who rose to the occasion (who got saved right back). McGary is on my auto-buy list!
The setting is what drew me to this mystery, which didn't disappoint. I didn't like the hero at the beginning and thought he was a chauvinist jerk, but as the story progressed, he changed and I ended up liking him. There were enough red herrings to keep me guessing as to who the murderer was. There are 3 consummated love scenes and I prefer those to take place off screen, but it didn't detract from the story. A quick and easy murder mystery to read on a rainy day.
